Guitarist/vocalist Gene Marino notes that while the album’s lyrics remain open to the listener’s interpretation, they lean toward extremes, depicting the fragility of society and the potential fallout of a tech-fueled apocalypse. This vision comes into stark relief on lead track “Anapsid,” where a crushing drum fill launches into a vicious onslaught of guitar work supporting snarling vocals about civilization’s eroding structures.
